Overview
Subcomponent Deployments streamline the deployment of specific parts of a metadata component without requiring the entire component to be deployed. This feature is particularly valuable when dealing with unfinished changes or metadata containing unnecessary elements, allowing you to deploy only what is ready while avoiding unintended overwrites.
Prodly supports Subcomponent Deployments for the following metadata types:
- Profiles
- Permission Sets
- Page Layouts
We will continue to add support for more metadata types in future releases.
Getting Started
To start using Subcomponent Deployments, follow these steps:
- Run a comparison of 2 environments from the Deploy page.
- Click on a supported component to reveal the subcomponent tree, select the relevant subcomponents.
- Deploy!
Future Enhancements
The following enhancements will be released next:
- Subcomponents will be reflected in deployment results.
- Subcomponent deployments will be available to save to a bundle, and reflected when previewing the contents of the bundle.
- Redeploy will support subcomponent deployments.
- Using a bundle as a template will support subcomponent selections.
- Expanded support for more metadata types.
- Subcomponents will be selectable from File View and reflected in Standard View and vice versa.
Stay tuned for updates as we expand support and refine functionality in upcoming versions and feel free to reach out to Prodly Support to provide your feedback!
