The Plan tab is where you design and manage reusable templates, called Change Types, to automate the creation of consistent, pre-configured development environments.
It's helpful to think of the relationship between a Change Type and a Scratch Org like that of a blueprint and a building:
This relationship is reflected in how you use the Plan and Release tabs in the application. You will configure your Change Types in the Plan tab. To use a saved Change Type to launch a new environment, you will navigate to the Environments page in the Release tab.
In short, the workflow is a two-step process across the different feature areas: first you Plan your template, then you Release your environment from that plan.
Configure Change Types to quickly create Dev-ready scratch orgs from within Release, as many times as you need. Users can centralize all necessary inputs for setting up a development environment by defining standard system modifications.
Before creating a Change Type for a scratch org, an administrator must perform a one-time setup to prepare your Salesforce environments. This includes:
