What is Work Management Integration?

Work management integration is the practice of connecting your Salesforce deployment activities directly to your project management and planning tools. In modern development, changes to applications like Salesforce CPQ are driven by user stories, tasks, bug reports, or other work items that live in systems like Jira, Azure Boards, or Asana.

By linking these two worlds, you create a seamless, transparent, and accountable release process. Instead of manually updating tickets or notifying stakeholders, the integration ensures that every data deployment is automatically associated with the specific business requirement that prompted it. In an agile world where speed and accuracy are paramount, work management integration provides the crucial context behind every change you make

Understand Work Management Integration

Prodly’s integration with leading work management systems offers a straightforward yet powerful way to enhance your release process. By creating a direct link between a deployment and a work item, you establish a permanent, auditable record that connects your technical work to your business objectives. This integration empowers your entire team with end-to-end traceability.

Through integration with a work management system, you can:

Linking Work Items

This section covers the common actions for linking work items to a deployment. These steps apply to any work management integration after the initial connection has been successfully established.

Adding Work Items to a Deployment:

  1. Set up your deployment as you normally would with Sandbox Seeding or in Deploy.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the deployment configuration page to locate the section for your connected work management tool (e.g., Jira, Azure Boards, Asana).
  3. Use the search box to find the specific work item(s) you wish to link. You can typically search by item number, name, or title.
  4. Select each desired work item to associate them with the deployment.
  5. To remove a work item that was inadvertently selected, simply click on the X icon to the right of the selected work item.

Viewing Linked Work Items After a Deployment

Once your deployment has finished submitting, you can view all associated work items by navigating to the Deployment History page and selecting the relevant deployment record. The linked work items will be clearly displayed as part of the deployment details.
